Dana Swanton is an artist inspired by sailing and particularly competitive sailing where boats come into close proximity. She grew up in a large family in which competitive sailing was part of family life and it consequently feels part of her. Each painting tells a story about each sailors’ ambitions to have exhilarating fun, to play by the rules, to persevere and to win. On the flip side this type of sailing can be frustrating, dangerous and requiring tireless energy and focus. But it feels worth it.
